Where is Spring?

If this is spring, why am I so cold? The few Easter days were wet, windy and cold and all the expected sunshine was out for just a handful of minutes just to make us yearn for spring and warmth even more. I know that talking about the weather (especially the bad weather!) is not only a British habit, but I cannot remember to have dwelled so much on the weather forecast before moving to Britain. Anyway, to console myself (and you as well, I hope), I’d like to post a wonderful picture of my favourite flower, the mimosa (which is actually a shrub and its official name is ‘acacia dealbata’).

I’m also posting my favourite Spring poem, one of the first poems I learnt in the English language.
Lines Written in Early Spring, William Wordsworth
I heard a thousand blended notes,
While in a grove I sate reclined,
In that sweet mood when pleasant thoughts
Bring sad thoughts to the mind.
To her fair works did Nature link
The human soul that through me ran;
And much it grieved my heart to think
What man has made of man.
Through primrose tufts, in that green bower,
The periwinkle trailed its wreaths;
And ’tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes.
The birds around me hopped and played,
Their thoughts I cannot measure:--
But the least motion which they made
It seemed a thrill of pleasure.
The budding twigs spread out their fan,
To catch the breezy air;
And I must think, do all I can,
That there was pleasure there.
If this belief from heaven be sent,
If such be Nature’s holy plan,
Have I not reason to lament
What man has made of man?

And if in the meanwhile you encounter Spring, please send her up to Yorkshire!!!

I'll send some of our weather your way. We hit 90 degrees today which is not normal at all for my area this early in spring.

I watched my daughter play football last night and it took me hours to warm up! I read today this will be warmest weekend of the year - but it's not so hard to beat is it?

Spring has finally arrived here in Leamington today. Clear blue skies. Blossom and daffs. I'll try and waft a little of it northwards (but not to much - I want to hang onto the lion's share)!

That is one of my favourite EVER Wordsworth poems... you can forget 'Daffodils' (many of which are still not out here anyway)... That's perfect: a miniature; a gem.

Hi Antonella!
Here in Italy is still a bit cold too, and the past Easter seemed... Christmas! But now the sun is here again and we hope that it will warm the air and our hearts!
So I hope that finally spring is arriving everywhere! ;)
Thanks for the Wordswoth poem, it's beautiful! I didn't know it!

A lovely tree accompanied by a lovely poem. Here in Georgia it has been warm and most of our dogwood trees are covered with pretty blooms. It is spring now although last week it felt more like summer with 29 degree temperature. I hope spring will last longer and keep summer at bay.

I saw your comment (and you are welcome, hehe!). Glad you finally had a bit of sun. We had a lovely weekend, I was on cloud 9! Yesterday we had 18C and Zeno and I decided to stay out all day walking here and there... in a t-shirt! Wow! :D
Have a lovely day, hugs!

I love that picture, the yellow against the blue sky is gorgeous! I hope you're getting some of the sun now (here in my car in Glasgow at one point it was showing 22 degrees!).

Hi there,
Come to my country, and you'll find no winter, no spring, and no fall... just the burning summer...;P
However, there were some years we were freezing cold. As for this year...I did not use any of my winter clothes except for a couple of times. Now it's springtime but it's somehow cloudy and rainy...
BTW,I live in K.S.A. (the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia)
