Graydon Carter, Vanity Fair's Editor, wrote in his magazine a few months ago:
“In less than a year the Bush administration will strut out of office, leaving the country in roughly the same condition a toddler leaves a diaper”.
Now that the time has come and all our hopes and enthusiasm are focused on Barack Obama’s inauguration day, we must remember what a terribly huge task Mr President Obama has taken on. We must remember that changes do not happen over night and that one man only cannot do miracles. He will need the full support of his administration, of the Congress and of all his country. He will need the support of everybody all over the World.
That’s why among all this hype about President Obama, I’d like to remember him like he his in the photo below, a man, surrounded by the love of his wife and children. God bless him!

I will really be praying for him. That he doesn't lose his way and that his advisers all turn out to be good wo/men. He has big tasks ahead of him.
It's an historic day! I just hope he can live up to the expectations.
Wonder post today dear one. Today is the day we change history once again...Today is a very good day indeed. (Hugs)Indigo
Exactly my sentiments Antoinella, if they let him do his job and work with him things will change slowly which surely has to be better than they have now.

God bless him and his family indeed. I must admit to shedding a tear as I watched the inauguration this evening. I've managed a (slightly silly) Obama post for tomorrow :)
I just hope people understand that he's not a God. He can't change things over night, and some things, he might not be able to change period. He's just a man.
Ejoy your day.
Well said, Antonella. I'm very realistic about the trouble we're in, and know that it won't get better overnight. But I also think President Obama is the best person to lead us at this time, and our best hope for direction.
Hugs, Beth
Today I was proud of being American although I'm not one. I wished that he was my President as well. When President Obama spoke the words:
"This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed - why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent mall, and why a man whose father less than 60 years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath." I couldn't help bursting into tears. Call me a softy, but his speech war really fantastic: powerful and reminiscent at the same time. He really seems someone nobody can mess about with but human and generous alltogether. With Bono's words "We are ONE".
My hope is that he stays that way and runs our country with that love he brings. I must say I have watched this couple all day like the rest of the world and I love them. They have held each other close, held hands, whispered secrets to each other and laughed you can just tell they absolutely love each other. I was laughing because at one of the last balls they made their appearance at he was kissing her a lot in public and the newsman said hey if we keep watching them until 3AM this could get really interesting. LOL.
He certainly has his work cut out, doesn't he - let's hope he's the man for the job - seems like he is :-)
I don't really understand all the hype as he will most certainly do a better job than W, who did not exactly leave big boots to fill.
First time here, hi!
@Susanna: Hi,Susanna, thanks for stopping by. Yes, I think GWB won't be remembered as a great President, but it was not only his fault!
@Ruby: Fingers crossed. Unfortunately (or fortunately) we all depend on him more than we think and expect!
@Livio: Mi e' piaciuto molto il suo discorso, speriamo che diventi concreto. Non sono molto ottimista vista la situazione conomica americana ed internazionale in generale.
@Chrissie: I agree. Hope the love for and from his family will help him to keep his promises. Won't be easy though!
