Days

(Sunset on th River Ouse, York)

'What are days for?

Days are where we live,

They come, they wake us

Time and time over.

They are to be happy in:

Where can we live but days?

Ah, solving the question

Bring the priest and the doctor

In their long coats

Running over the fields.'

(My favourite Philip Larkin's poem, "Days")

Apparently simple, but so deep!
Enjoy your "active" Sunday!

I'm a big Larkin fan. I used to have The Explosion off by heart. My favourite line of his (ashamedly I can't recall the name of the poem) is "all that remains of us is love". Says it all.

Thanks for the poem and the reminder that I need to read more Larkin.
