Wish I was There

A couple of days ago, thousands of people gathered in St Marks' Square, Venice, to admire the traditional "flight of the angel" in which a young woman glides on a harness from St Mark's belltower. This marks the beginning of the Carnival of Venice, the most wonderful event in Italy, if not in the world...

Also this year, as every year, I wish I was there ...

I would love to be there too. I keep looking at flights to Venice and cruises coming back to the states. One of these days I just may click "book me"

I've never been to any carnival but would love to see one up close! I grew up a Calvinist in the Netherlands and was told that Carnival was "a Catholic thing" which sounds so funny to me now.

So, I'm going to put Carnival on my to-do list. I have no idea where in the world I will be living next year, but it might be Italy.

That sounds so wonderful. I think I will put it on my To Do Before I Die list.

I like Venice's take on Carnival much more than New Orleans or Rio. It seems much more restrained and sophisticated.
