Most of you, dear friends, know Karen aka Almost Mrs Average of The Rubbish Diet who’s been teaching us how to slim down our bins and improve our recycling, thus giving our environment a chance in the future. If you read her blog you will see how much she has achieved in over a year and how much she has influenced all of us. Following Karen’s advice I’ve proudly managed to half my weekly rubbish, started composting and create a small (very small!) vegetable garden.
Now, next week is Recycle Week and Karen has invited British Mummy Bloggers community (http://britishmummybloggers.ning.com)to/ spread the news and take a recycle pledge. My pledge is as follows:
Reuse my plastic bags
I know it seems like an easy pledge, but this is a big issue for me, as I’m always in a hurry and always end up at the cash point realizing that I've left them in the car!
The "rules" are:
1. Visit http://www.recyclenow.com/ and sign up to one of the pledges to waste less.
2. Share details of your pledge on your own blog.
3. Choose five other bloggers, who will also be up for a bit of recycling fun.
4. Come back to this post at The Rubbish Diet and share your pledge with others, by placing a link to your pledge in the comments field.
5. Optional - as a thank you to all involved The Rubbish Diet will be publishing a British Mummy Bloggers' Recycle Week carnival on Monday 29th June. To be included, simply submit your favourite post revealing the progress of your pledge by Saturday 27th June - email to karen[at]therubbishdiet[dot]co[dot]uk.

Good luck and thanks for taking part to the Recycle Week Campaign.

Yay Antonella - That's fab that you've joined in and I just love your pledge. Bizarrely the plastic bag thing is one of the hardest habits to change. So I can't wait to hear how you get on AND please do send me your progress post for the carnival.
Am absolutely chuffed to have helped ou with your rubbish my lovely friend. So thank you for the kind words. It's very much appreciated.
So here's to Recycle Week. V exciting.
And for everyone who joins in .... Good Luck :-D
Thanks to you I have finally picked up a Camilleri book again - I tried to read it years ago but the Sicilian got to me - I lived there for a couple of years and my ex-husband is Sicilian so I can understand it but it was all too much like hard work - anyway, I have started again and I am loving it - thankyou!!
That's a wonderful initiative! I wish Manila would have something similar.
I've been carrying a foldable shopping bag in my purse for almost three years now and I try to write companies whose packaging I find excessively wasteful. We try to dispose of everything in recycling centers rather than just throw them out as garbage too. I know there's much more we can do, but right now, I can't think what our next step should be.
Brava, sei così virtuosa!
What an interesting initiative! Our children should grow up INTO these rules and feel it natural to save and recycle, whilst for us it is something we have to think about, concentrate, organize, achieve with effort. Thank you for sharing this precious links.
Ti saluto Antonella carissima, andiamo a casa mia all'Argentario per una settimana. Ci ritroveremo a fine giugno e primi dieci gg di luglio poi torniamo giù per rimanere fino quasi tutto agosto, senza connessione internet!
Bacioni da Verona xxxx
Yes we should all recycle more, I always carry two reusable cloth carrier bags and a plastic bag (to protect against the rain!) in my handbag.
I feel guilty now when I think what I have just thrown in my bin.
Ciao Antonella, we all should recycle more. Here no one recycles, people do not even know how to use a regular trash-bin! It's horrible! I posted about it long ago, it's still something that drives me mad!
Happy Summer! Rainy and chilly here... Hugs!
First I will try and deal with the tiresome problem of the council being erratic in picking up the recycling. I go to all the trouble to recycle then they cant always be bothered to pick it up. Sigh.
Good luck! I've been having a hard time with this one as you know. I have a sieve for a brain and it's so hard to remember to have those darn bags when you need them.
I try to use cloth bags and finally have the habit of remembering them when I shop for food. However, only recently did it dawn on me that I could use them in clothing stores, etc.
I'd try to eliminate as much plastic from our home as possible. Not just bags but all sorts of things.
I'm off to read the link you posted.
Darla
