Thank you to all of you, dear friends, for your lovely words and this overwhelming demonstration of sympathy and affection. I showed your comments to my daughter and she was moved to tears (well, she cries at every mention of Lilly nowadays). Now she is firmly convinced that only a little puppy can help her a bit to get over Lilly's loss! Crafty little girl! Thanks again.

That's is what we are really all here for, to support each other. I am sure that any animal would help her get over Lilly, just remember Hamsters do not live that long if you decide on another one of those. I know she will never forget Lilly.

@Jeannette: We are not sure what to do yet. We would like to get a puppy but with my work I'm not sure I could give the puppy the best life he/she needs. Maybe we'll wait that Vicky is a little bit older so she can help more with looking after a dog. Thanks for your kind words.
@Hilda: We are tempted, but as I said to Jeannette above, I'm not sure this is the right time for a puppy. We love animals too much to get a pet just as a reaction to Lilly's loss. I'm sire that a dog is good for us but I'm not sure that we are good/right for a dog!!!! Ciao.
