I’m cold. So cold. The central heating is on. I’m wrapped in a warm blanket and I’m thinking of getting a hot water bottle. But I’m too cold to go downstairs. I spent all morning on a football pitch watching my daughter playing. The wind was freezing and there was no sign of the sun. Maybe that’s the reason why I’m so cold now. I think the cold wind has penetrated deep into my bones and I cannot get rid of it. After so many years living in England I got used t everything - rain, mist, fog, snow etc. but I will never get used to the wind. The freezing wind. My husband - English of course – keeps on repeating that Britain is an island, what do I expect? I expect cold autumns and winters but spring? It’s the middle of March, some lovely flowers are already blossoming, so why is it still so cold???
The most ridiculous and typical Yorkshire weather forecast is when they say: today’s temperature is 10 but feels like -10!!! What does it mean? It simply means that the wind is blowing away all the sun’s hard work… So cold. So sad.
Sorry for the ranting, but tonight I just feel envious of everybody living south of Yorkshire!
Got to get the hot water bottle out now and a cup of decaf tea!!!

Oh dear! I hope that tea has warmed you up... I know, I know, the weather in England is indeed an issue for italians... I hope the weather will be milder soon... Un abbraccio! Valeria
Its not alot warmer down here in the Fens lol the wind comes straight of the North sea here ,and everything is so flat ,nothing to stop it I do hope you manage to warm up soon .....love Jan xx
What about a very long hot hot shower?! I hate when the cold chills you to the bone...
Oh, Antonella, I completely sympathize with you. I have a very low tolerance for cold too. I wish you can come here!
Sending you sunny thoughts in the hope that you'll warm up soon.
If I were living there I do believe I would be wearing layers all year around. I can't stand being cold. Yet I detest living anywhere where the seasons don't change drastically. (Hugs)Indigo
The weather in the northeast states hasn't been to warm yet either.
I hope you got some sun today?
I know what you mean about the cold wind that penetrates so deep you never feel you can warm up afterwards, its like that a lot in Edinburgh and March of course is the windiest month...
I have just been to nonSupermum's blog and she is posting about the beginnings of Spring and then I get a nasty shock to see how terribly cold it still is in your neck of the woods. Hopefully it will warm up soon for you.

Hiya Antonella, I know what you mean! I'm sick of looking at the forecast and read “ today’s temperature is 8°C but feels like 3°C”. I still can’t believe I moved to place where July/Aug. average high is of 19°C. Sigh! I am not a hot weather lover, but I can’t stand rain anymore! Have a fab Monday. Must dash coz we have been w/o light and water for a few hours on Sunday and I have tons of things to do now. Ciao! :)
Hi Antonella, I haven't lived in England but lived near New York City & your wind sounds so familiar, it is murder. We were pretty close to the Ocean so it was always windier near home than in the city. I hope you feel warm again soon, maybe a nice cup of tea would help too or a cappuccino :o)
Take it easy, I hope spring arrives soon in your area.
If it's any consolation, north of Yorkshire it's even colder! lol We have the wind *and* the horizontal rain in Glasgow - after more than 3 years I'm still not used to it!
Oh I know so well the coldness of wind. It is a bitter cold. Spring is on the way. Take cheer from the daffidols.
I so hate the cold. When I graduated from college in Buffalo (which is really the windy city) I hightailed it to Israel. It was so lovely there that I got spoiled. Now in Virginia, which is surely not as cold as Yorkshire, I stay inside whenever they talk of windchill factor.
Stay warm. And why can't you watch the game from the car? Do you have to watch the whole thing? Basketball, I am so glad my daughter plays basketball.
@Dear Valeria, The weather in Britain is an issue for everybody!!!]
@Jan: I finally warmed up with my electric blanket, but it took ages!!!
@Amy: I had a shower as well, and lots of tea…see above!
@ Hilda: My tolerance is even lower when it is supposed to get warmer and it isn’t! I keep on hearing that spring is here but I cannot feel it! Where is it then?
In the Philippines, of course!
@Indigo: At the end of the day, Indigo, nobody has forced me to move here in the cold! But I think cold and rainy weather has a very strong influence on people’s moods and even character!!!
@Missie: Well, at least it’s not only here! Hope your leg is getting better.
@A Mothern Mother: There was some sunshine Sunday and yesterday but the temperature is still down. I read somewhere that the temperatures at the weekend were higher in England that in Turkey. Yes, maybe in the Turkish mountains….
@CGP: Yes, I know the March is the windiest month…I can feel it every year!!! And what about April and May and June etc???
@Mervat: Yorkshire, where I live, is almost 3 hours distance from where notSupermum lives – at least I think - and the weather is always colder…
@Kia: I really love Scotland but I’m not sure I could live there longer than a couple of days. Too much rain and wind. Ciao!
@Elizabeth: Thanks for visiting. I love NYC and surrounding area. I can assure you that it’s not colder than here. Not in March, at least. All the best to you.
@Jackie: I know, Jackie, that’s why I’ve précised “south of Yorkshire”. I know what you mean with “horizontal rain”! What’s the point of having umbrellas???
@Mo: Yes, the daffodils are coming out, that’s the only consolation. York and Yorkshire are beautiful with the daffodils all over!
@Laura: The car was parked very far from the football pitch and I couldn’t see her from there. And all the other mothers were there as well. I did not want to look like a wimp! I’m trying to convince her to play netball instead!
The only thing that was difficult about living in England for me was the cold. I remember not being able to feel my fingers and toes. Heck, I get that way in San Francisco, sometimes! I love the heat. I can't believe I don't live somewhere really hot!
When my son plays Soccer/football or rugby I freeze, too!
Glad you warmed up eventually!
Laura
Oh I know just how you feel, or I did prior to this weeks vaca. Winter is long and painful. Here's hoping for some spring weather soon.
xoxo
ym
I hope things warm up for you. You know what would warm you up?? A Lily dog!!
@Laura: I'd do anything to be able to live in California. I absolutely love San Francisco. I could even put up with the freezing wind if I could be there!!!
@YM: You lucky sod, all nice and understanding whilst you're getting wined and tanned in Hawai! have fun also for me!
@La Belette: I know I know, my life would be perfect with a beautiful westie!
