Twenty Years Without Freddie

It has already been twenty years. Twenty years since Freddie died. Twenty years without him just trying to imagine what that great singer and composer could have still composed and sung. I saw them at the MTV Europe Music Awards, all that remains of the Queen, and listened to Adam Lambert performing Freddie’s classic hits "Thes Sow Must Go On", "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions". He was brave and courageous. But when you listen to a good singer, you also realize who is really the best.

What consoles me about Freddie is that he was loved almost immediately and a lot. And he is still loved and will always be. No artist will ever be so memorable as Freddie Mercury with the Queen. Theirs was the first music video in history, Bohemian Rhapsody.Theirs was the most memorable performance at Live Aid.Theirs was the most memorable and irreverent closing act ever at a concert: Freddie with his red cape while the band played "God Save the Queen".

40 but we don't show it!!!!

My “bestest” friend Giusy and I have known each other for 40 years today!!!! We were two little shy girls in reception class when we met and now we are almost old ladies but still young at heart. I’ve been so lucky to meet her and have her as a friend for all these years! Although we live in two different countries we couldn’t be closer. She’s always been there for me and I know she always will. We laugh so much together and have so many things in common that’s almost incredible! Together we’ve become so famous that we’ve even made it on the cover of Vogue!!!

Anniversary

I can hardly believe it. 15 years! I apologize to everyone who thought this would be my wedding anniversary. It’s not. Or rather it is, not with my husband, but with York. It’s been 15 years since I moved to York, to England actually. Where has all the time gone? It seems impossible to me. It seems like yesterday. How quickly the years have gone but at the same time how much has happened in those years!

We moved house three times, my son, who came here as a baby, is now a gorgeous and slightly naughty teenager. My daughter was born here and has become a true Yorkshire girl. I manage to establish my business and I’m working for myself as I have always wanted. I met some lovely people and in spite of the very changeable and often disagreeable weather, I’ve had some great time here. Although I will always be a foreigner here, I can say with pride that York has become my home. And what a beautiful home! Maybe not forever (whatever it means, anyway), but surely for a bit longer, who know? Thank you, York, for all what you've given us!
